  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Szechuan sauce or paste
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2 minutes, then plunge into ice water to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and stir-fry until it is just cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if necessary, and stir-fry the garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  4. Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and stir-fry until they start to blister and turn brown in spots.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet. Stir in the soy sauce, Szechuan sauce, Chinese five spice, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir-fry until everything is well-coated and heated through.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  7. Serve immediately, offering a spicy and satisfying meal.
